Kentucky State Police
Kentucky State Police is the primary statewide law enforcement agency. Troopers handle traffic enforcement on I-75 and US-25E, respond to fatal collisions, conduct major criminal investigations, and provide backup to local agencies on serious incidents across Knox County.
Knox County Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office is the county's principal law enforcement agency. Deputies patrol everything from Barbourville's outskirts to the deep rural roads, work narcotics cases, serve warrants and court paper, and provide courthouse security. KCSO works closely with both BPD and KSP on county-wide incidents.
Barbourville Police Department
Barbourville PD is the city's municipal police force, focused on patrol, traffic, and community policing within the city limits. Officers handle the bulk of in-town calls — disturbances, domestics, thefts, and downtown enforcement — and frequently coordinate with KCSO and KSP on calls that cross jurisdictional lines.
Barbourville Fire Department
Barbourville Fire responds to structure fires, brush and wildland fires common in the Appalachian foothills, vehicle extrications, and hazmat incidents. BFD also supports EMS calls and provides rural rescue across Knox County's hollers and back roads.
